Winning Isn't Personal

Adrian WardJuly 26, 2026Wrestle Fest: Wrestle Fest VPrivate Locker Room333 words

People always assume I hate team sports.

I don't.

I hate sharing credit.

See, I spent years winning before I ever stepped into a wrestling ring. Championships. Trophies. Records.

Every time I'd accomplish something...omeone else got to stand beside me and pretend they earned the same applause.

That's when I realized something.

The word we is the favorite excuse of people who need somebody else.

Professional wrestling fixed that. Now every victory has a name attached to it.

Mine.

Billy and Tyler, everyone loves talking about how close you two are.

Brothers, partners, a family with deep ties and a great redemption story.

Congratulations, you were born on the same family tree.

I chose my partner: there's a difference. Leyla and I didn't become a team because of blood, we became a team because excellence recognizes excellence.

Everything we do is intentional. Every move, every strategy, every opportunity.

While you two are relying on instincts and years of familiarity, I've already watched the tape. I've already identified the weaknesses. I've already decided which part of your body is leaving Wrestle Fest hurting the most.

The back.

It always comes back to the back.

A European Uppercut turns your world around, a Backstabber finishes the conversation.

Simple, efficient, and effective.

You can call what happened on Infernalia an ambush if it makes you feel better. I call it scouting. I wanted to know how you'd react when control disappeared.

The answer?

Emotion.

Emotion gets people beat. Discipline wins championships. That's the difference between The Unstoppable Force and The Brat Pack.

You wrestle with your hearts.

I wrestle with my head.

At Wrestle Fest, there won't be any surprises.

No miracles or inspirational comebacks. Just another pair of talented athletes discovering that talent means absolutely nothing when someone smarter is standing across the ring.

Winning has never been complicated, people just insist on making it emotional.

I don't.

I simply make it inevitable.
